Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in Australians, according to latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Each day, approximately 275 Australians develop diabetes - over the course of one year, that's equivalent to filling all the seats and standing room at the MCG.
There are currently 890,000 Australians who have been diagnosed with diabetes. To put this into perspective, that's about one and a half times the populations of Tasmania.
