Waddup with WAD Up?
WAD Up! is an innovative online multimedia initiative, from the folks at SYINC, to look at HIV/AIDS through the eyes of young people in Singapore. Using web2.0 tools like Facebook and Youtube, it combines the technology of digital media, the creativity of artistic expression, and the power of personal experience, to tell our own stories about AIDS. In conjunction with World AIDS Day (WAD), 1 Dec 2007.
Why
1.To raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among Singapore youth
2.To challenge stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and HIV+ individuals (PLWHA)
3.To engage young people to talk about AIDS on their own terms
What you can do:
i) Invite friends! Be our top recruiter -- pay it forward and get more people on board.
ii) Write a blog post! It can be anything from your thoughts or even experiences relating to AIDS (be it through friends, conversations with HIV+ people, your personal story, etc)
--> For the blog, send your blogger log-in email to wadup@syinc.org OR send your blog post in directly. Include your attribution details (eg. Ian Fong, 28, artist)
--> The post does not have to be long, scientifically grounded, nor politically correct. There is no right or wrong. We just want to hear what people really think of AIDS issues and stigma - people like you!
iii) Submit a video entry! For the gungho, send us up to 5min of edited footage - it doesn't have to be professional, or use serious equipment (in fact your handphone will do!)
Best blog post and video clip get... (mystery prize - we'll tell you soon enough!)

1. Most humans aren't evil. So why the stigma and discrimination? We believe getting awareness & exposure to those affected can be a powerful tool to expand & re-position our worldview on HIV/AIDS.
