my son is in the stollery right now and i am very happy with all the people involved!! thanx for all the help to the nurses and doctors
looking for sponsors for my children who both pinked their hair for the cause and sydney cut off 1 inches of her hair, sam shaves his head in another 2 and a half weeks
I have 3 kids and all 3 has had to use the stollery. Jordan was diagnosed with Hirschsprungs and he developed an infectiona nd I lost him at age 17 days:( He was in the NICU, peds ward and PICU. Numerous tests, surgeries and blood work. It was so hard to watch him get sicker and sicker. My daughter had 2 surgeries at the stollery, sleep test, and goes there to see her ENT surgeon, asthma specialist and will need to go to get Occupational therpay for her Muscle tone. My youngest daughter is 7 months old and she sees a pediatric opthamologist and will be seeing a pediatric nuerologist end of feb. Its hard to grasp onto the reality that all my kids needed that place for something but I am very grateful for this place to be so near us!
The Stollery was and continues to be a great support for my granddaughter. She has some health issues and it makes it so much easier when my son and daughter-in-law can get the help they need.
The Stollery is a great place. When my son was born premature they did everything they could to save him and when that could not happen they made sure i had lots of memories of him that i hold dear.
There are angels within the Stollery Children's Hospital providing care!!
In memory of our beautiful, Samantha Lauren Martin, beloved only daughter: God Bless all the persons who positively impact the lives of others and provide comfort! : )
Today, I stumbled across a site on the web called, "Jack and Jill Meeting Place". I was rather floored to find a message posted there dating back to 2004 from a family seeking to locate others with Tetrasomy 18p Syndrome. Imagine, here we are at the end of 2009! Fortunately, in this particular case, I do recognize the names of the posters and know that they have found the Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society and are members. However, how many other families have similarly reached out, but without effecting direction?? A scary thought! Increasingly, I am finding persons who are challenged with ability to connect with others. Persons who are scouring social networks for answers instead of being directed by Universities/Physicians to helpful communities.
So much education left to accomplish!

Please encourage your healthcare provider to communicate with other associated professionals to educate about rare syndromes & disorders. Ask them to - at least - direct to global organizations such as NORD (National Organization for Rare Disorders) and CDO (Chromosome Disorder Outreach) so that persons are better equipt to face any challenges alongside the kinship and experience of others.
For the past 2 years I have gone to the Haunted Hike here in Sherwood Park. All proceeds go to the Stollery and I found out that this year they raised $14,000.00 Year! Can't wait to keep going every year. I just love the fact that the money is going to such a NEEDED place,
With the birth of my grandson in Dec of 2008, if not for the wonderful and fantastic doctors and nursing staff, Braden would not be here today. God Bless Everyone who had something to do with his heart operation and recovery.
My 1st daughter was in the stollery in 2004. She had a cranial operation! It was very stressful and all of the staff members did their best to keep us calm and comfortable. They were great!! My daugher is now recovered. I am so glad the Stollery was there for me and my family!!
