"Serving those affected by war and conflict, offering a Refuge and a Hope"
Refuge and Hope International is a Christian organization that was born out of a desire to serve people affected by war and conflict. Our priority is investing in people, and we are committed to doing holistic ministry - meeting both physical and spiritual needs. Refuge and Hope believes that by investing in individuals, we will enable them to be agents of change in their own community.
We seek to specifically target the poor and marginalized; to advocate for and help children of war and conflict; to serve, network and partner with churches, para-church organizations, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and individuals to provide coordinated and effective intervention, training and assistance; and to promote social justice, racial equality, and the worth of all peoples, especially women and children, by offering a Refuge and Hope.
Refuge and Hope International assists in small development and/or relief projects benefiting people affected by conflict in Central/Eastern Africa – partnering with churches, individuals, and other organizations. We particularly seek to assist children in getting a solid education and to address the needs of women, who are often overlooked and neglected, as well as refugees, IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) and former child soldiers. Our projects include teaching and training programs, assistance for children from conflict-affected areas to attend school, assisting refugees, income-generating projects, and supporting local organizations through partnerships.
Refuge and Hope also participates in the training of caring, committed volunteers by speaking in churches or to civic organizations, informing and creating advocates through newsletters, mobilizing prayer support, guiding teams in on-site assistance, linking teams to development projects and relief and disaster situations to provide quick and effective intervention, networking with individuals and churches to help meet the needs of the hurting and oppressed by offering love, care, hope, assistance, friendship, and resources.
As Refuge and Hope International comes into contact with hurting individuals, it is our desire that their suffering will be addressed in an appropriate and caring manner. We seek to mobilize efforts and resources to eliminate and alleviate suffering while avoiding duplication. Funding comes from a variety of sources, with the majority coming from churches and individuals.
