About Picasso Veterinary Fund

How the Picasso Veterinary Fund is saving lives…

Administered by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, the Picasso Veterinary Fund pays for lifesaving medical treatment for sick and injured animals transferred from Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) to other Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) for adoption.

Traditionally, animals with extreme medical needs who are taken in by animal control shelters are euthanized because the funds needed to pay for surgery and other expensive treatment just haven't been available. But many of these animals would make wonderful, loving pets if only they had access to the medical treatment they need. The Picasso Veterinary Fund (PVF) was created to give these animals the second chances they deserve. By paying for medical treatment that otherwise would not be available to them, the PVF is saving lives that in the past would have been lost.

These animals get the veterinary care they need to get back on their feet, and then are put up for adoption when they are healthy enough to be placed into a permanent home. Since 2003, hundreds of dogs and cats have received medical treatment paid for by the PVF.
