On Children's Day, change a life for $20!!

Dear friends, Today is Children's Day in India -- a day we probably remember as being full of fun and joy. Sadly, for thousands of underprivileged children it's just another challenging day. Give Foundation, Inc.
$660 raised from 3 causes

Donations go to:

Give Foundation, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit)

GIVE Foundation is a philahtropic exchange that connects people and organizations in the US with projects in India.

The exchange helps provide total transparency and accountability in project implementation.

We follow a unique partnership model where different partners bring a lot of passion and zeal to the effort, and the cause they work on is typically their organizational mission as well.

What we want to achieve:
Charity is generally sporadic giving by donors when a foundation or non-profit institution approaches them. We aim to make ''giving'' a sustained commitment by fostering a relationship between charities and their donors. Along the way, we will answer questions like
"Will my donation reach it''s destination?"
"How was my contribution used?"
"How can I make my contribution more effective?"

Give Foundation is working to promote the cause of giving by answering the above questions and making charity more than a 1 way street: we close the loop between donors and charities. Not only do donors contribute to charities, but we help charities give feedback and information to donors.

Would you like to meet a beneficiary? You could do by volunteering with GiveIndia for a few hours. We're looking for volunteers for a one time activity - verifying beneficiaries.

What does that mean?

Well, as you may know, after a donor makes a donation through GiveIndia, s/he receives a feedback report that describes the person who benefited from their kindness. While we have a great deal of faith in our NGOs, as part of our efforts to increase transparency and credibility, GiveIndia wants to make sure that these beneficiaries really exist and have received the benefits that the report

So, if you live in Delhi, Pune, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Trichy, Erode, Chennai or Bangalore please read on.

This one-time task involves:

1. Visiting specific beneficiaries identified by GiveIndia at an NGO location which may include a centre or a school.

2. Verifying that the beneficiary exists and that s/he has received the benefits as described in the feedback. Give India will support the volunteer with all the information that is required for her/him to make this visit.

3. The visit has to be a 'surprise' visit - the beneficiary/NGO will NOT know the exact time of the visit.

4. You will need to send us a report based on a template we give you.

5. The visit ideally has to be done on a weekday. The duration of this exercise is actually limited to verifying information as described in the feedback and nothing else.

6. The organisation is not in a position to reimburse you any expenses.

If this is something that interests you, please write to smita@giveindia.org for more information.

You can all donate Rs. 250 for free and in 2 simple steps

Step 1 : Create a twitter account for yourself at twitter.com

Step 2 : Write a message which says @giveindia 50 Twollars to support you

Thats it. You've just donated Rs. 250. Thank you very much :-)

Once you are done also follow us at twitter.com/GiveIndia

Read on if you want to understand how it works....

-------------------------------- ----------------------------------- ----------

Twollars.com has introduced "a currency of appreciation" for Twitter users. Twitter users can donate twollars to any charity that they support. Each Twitter user starts with a balance of 50 Twollars and can donate any amount to the favourite charity (US/UK registered at this point) of their choice. Any individual/organization can then buy these Twollars from the charity at the rate of $1 per 10 Twollars. You can read more at http://givinginadigitalworld.org...
