Donate Fundraising: The GiveIndia Challenge Fund

Tgh

The GiveIndia Challenge Fund

Your donation goes to support the core mission of:
Give Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Dear Donor,

Do you want to increase the impact of your donation? Did you wish you could get your donation to do even more?

Educate ONE MORE child OR

Provide vocational training to ONE MORE woman OR

Provide cataract surgery to ONE MORE person

GiveIndia now provides you the opportunity to increase the impact of your donation.

Donate money for the "The GiveIndia Challenge Fund". The contributions from this fund will be used to provide matching grants to NGOs incentivising them to raise even more money for themselves
One such example is the India Giving Challenge (http://www.GiveIndia.org/IGC) that was run from Sep 1 - Oct 11, 2009 as part of the Joy of Giving Week celebrations. This challenge raised more than Rs. 91 lacs (~USD 200,000) from 5,000 donors. More than Rs. 56 lacs (~USD 120,000) was given in the form of matching grants by GiveIndia.

We also ran the US End-of-Year $15k Giving Challenge (http://www.giveindia.org/t-us-giving-challenge-winners.aspx). This challenge raise more than USD 25,000 in a matter of 16 days. GiveIndia provided a matching grant of ~USD 15,000 in this challenge.

More recently we were one of the top-100 charities in the Chase Community Giving event which has contributed another USD 25,000 to "The GiveIndia Challenge Fund".

Please note that this money will NOT be used to fund any expense of GiveIndia whatsoever under any circumstances. You can rest assured that your money will go to NGOs based on the event rules as and when we have new events. Keep tuned into GiveIndia and subscribe to the newsletter to know when such funds are deployed.

Do however note that you will NOT get a feedback report for this donation. 9.1% of your donation through this page will be used by GiveIndia and the balance 90.9% goes into the challenge fund. If you donate on this page you will receive a receipt from Network for Good which can be used for tax deductions in US. If you want to receive a receipt that can be used for tax deductions in India then you can donate on - http://www.giveindia.org/give/pledgepage/GiveIndiaChallengeFund

Simply fill in an amount that you would like to donate and click on the Donate button to proceed.

Regards,
GiveIndia Team

Would you like to meet a beneficiary? You could do by volunteering with GiveIndia for a few hours. We're looking for volunteers for a one time activity - verifying beneficiaries.

What does that mean?

Well, as you may know, after a donor makes a donation through GiveIndia, s/he receives a feedback report that describes the person who benefited from their kindness. While we have a great deal of faith in our NGOs, as part of our efforts to increase transparency and credibility, GiveIndia wants to make sure that these beneficiaries really exist and have received the benefits that the report

So, if you live in Delhi, Pune, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Trichy, Erode, Chennai or Bangalore please read on.

This one-time task involves:

1. Visiting specific beneficiaries identified by GiveIndia at an NGO location which may include a centre or a school.

2. Verifying that the beneficiary exists and that s/he has received the benefits as described in the feedback. Give India will support the volunteer with all the information that is required for her/him to make this visit.

3. The visit has to be a 'surprise' visit - the beneficiary/NGO will NOT know the exact time of the visit.

4. You will need to send us a report based on a template we give you.

5. The visit ideally has to be done on a weekday. The duration of this exercise is actually limited to verifying information as described in the feedback and nothing else.

6. The organisation is not in a position to reimburse you any expenses.

If this is something that interests you, please write to smita@giveindia.org for more information.
