Brigham & Women's Hospital Petition

Stop Cancer Causing Hepatitis - Urge for Funding and Research

792 signatures

About this Petition:

Endorsed by Nobel Laureate Baruch Blumberg MD PhD, discoverer and inventor of the HBV vaccine (which prevents liver cancer), the Campaign for Cancer Prevention and Liver Cancer Free are teaming up to advocate for increased research and treatment funding for hepatitis to prevent liver cancer.

On behalf of hepatitis B patients and others silently suffering with chronic viral hepatitis, we are writing to urge you to petition for increasing funding for viral hepatitis prevention, education and screening up to $90 million in the final FY2011 Appropriations bill.

In order to help the six million US residents affected by hepatitis B and C, and help reduce the burden of 500 million worldwide with HBV and HCV, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) must receive additional funding to develop robust public health and research programs. A funding level of $90 million is a first step in building a comprehensive viral hepatitis program at the CDC that will include education, testing, vaccination, surveillance and referral to care. Additionally, funding is needed for the NIH to conduct research into treatments that will eliminate hepatitis B, hepatitis C and liver cancer. Liver cancer, largely caused by chronic viral hepatitis, is the 5th leading cause of cancer and the only type of cancer that is on the rise. Liver cancer is one of the most deadly forms of cancer and more research is needed at the NIH to develop lifesaving treatments.

Thank you for your attention to this important health issue.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eric Ding

My Mother is a Cancer Survivor. I am her first born Child and I remember feeling so helpless when my mother was in the hospital getting ready for her surgery. My mother was really cut up pretty bad from her neck up her throat and even had to remove more than half of her tongue. Her recovery wasn't easy for she had to learn to eat and talk all over again. Today I am happy to say my mother has been living a wonderful life with my dad, both retired and they've been doing a of traveling. My Mother still shows much of her surgery Scars and still battles much discomfort lots of times but really My Mother is a Living Miracle.

I lost my husband of many years to cancer three years ago. Pancreatic Cancer. It was the worst time in my life. I had already had two sons' murdered by violence years prior, my husband was my backbone and helper in all that I did. Now he is gone. I found that he should have been taking supplements while working out side 10 hours a day four days a week near a freeway and not far from three other freeways. John Hopkins University did a report about a year ago about cancer they reported that we all have cancer cells in our bodies. It is our intake of food, sugar, smoking, the environment and our genes that wake up the cells. They also reported that everyone need to be taking natural supplements to help keep cancer cells dormant and asleep. I started researching when my husband took sick and there was not much out there, we tried tea's and other remedies but it was too late. After his death I came across these products at this web site, started taking them and decided to start selling them because of how much stronger in my mind and body I felt. Here is the web site for your review and I suggest that if you have not read the report about John Hopkins and Cancer please do so for your health and your family, God bless you all and take care of each other and your self! http://wellnesspeaceandlove.gnld.net/
