when the earth is some other happy planets' hell,
then it could be seven planets' heaven just as well
Dear Damien, thank you for your information! Now, I know...what kind of stupid question you mean. As the examples of questions you've given are stupid ones disguised as smart, you must mean smart questions disguised as stupid
1. What if you can customize your own weather?
2. What if you can find a safe and efficient way of harnessing the power of earthquakes without resorting to nuclear energy?
3. What if I can have my own avatar twin go work at my office when I don't feel like going to work?
Dear Serge,
A "stupid" question is not the everyday straightforward question one asks, e.g. Why is the bus late? How can I earn more money? Will my boyfriend make a good husband?
What we are looking for are questions which are imaginative or asked out of pure curiosity or playfulness, because these tend to lead to creative ideas.
Hope that answers your question. :-)

"How can balloons catch pirates?"
This is one of my favourite stupid questions created a year ago, and been using this as an example of how to come up with stupid questions that can lead to numerous possibilities. One of which is using cameras to capture shots of pirates at work, using a quiet balloon, or something similar up in the air, too high top be seen or heard easily.
And true enough, this idea has been implemented by the US Navy. here's the link to the news report about the US Navy using drones to hunt for pirates off Somalia:

See? Stupid questions can lead to brilliant new possibilities after all!

How can you create a personalized pool whereby you can adjust the pool temperature and change the surrounding environment to onsen, wakiki etc according to your mood?
What if a electric fan can generate more energy then the amount required to turn it on by the rotational speed of its propeller?
