Non-profit Hatian Literacy Project
the Children Heritage Foundation is a newly formed non-profit organization dedicated to the education and development of Haiti youth.
The challenges Haiti faces are well documented. As a country, it suffers from a history of joblessness, and dangerous streets. It has been a victim of government corruption and recently devastated by four consecutive hurricanes. But there are lesser known stories of those who would change the cycle of unemployment and violence, who have a vision of a beautiful country, where the people have a brighter future.
The Children Heritage Foundation is taking the first step in realizing that vision by offering an alternative path for the young people of Haiti. The Foundation will provide an educational program that includes an English literacy component along with technical training in computer programming and software development. This, in turn, allows for a larger and longer term goal--A shift to a culture of innovation, with new employment opportunities for Haitians, a stronger local economy, and a chance for young Haitian adults realize their potential. If successful, the Children’s Heritage foundation will become a pilot program for other projects in Haiti and throughout the entire Caribbean.
