Posted by Carrie on Jul 8

The University of Tennessee confirmed that it has stopped using live pigs for trauma training and now uses simulators. Ask Tulane to do the same!

If there are alternative methods to learning about the anatomy and physiology of either the human or animal bodies, and/or testing of drugs, then why sacrafice the lives of animals?!!? So many animals are killed just so we can learn when there are other effective methods to learning. Why can't people dissect on the criminals that are on deathrow?? Why is it soo easy for people to right away sacrafice the life of an innocent animal as if they cannot feel pain?? Animals have as much of a right to live their lives just as people want to live their lives, so why not let them?!!?

I hate people that hurt animals, their cowards!

I always thought zoos were cruel, caged up animals just for our convenience to view like a freak show or something and they never get treated properly. Even if they do I mean what kind of a life do they have sitting in a cage all their life, that's no fun.

I think bottom line is that zoos where designed for the one thing, to make money. If you want to see a Lion go to Africa and take your chances, what better place to see an animal then in their natural habitat, I use to visit a great web site called Africam.com, live cams in Africa, i had to wait a long time but got some great pics and saw Lions, Zebras, Not sure if web site is still there.

If people do not treat their pets the way they should bring them to a shelter or give them to someone who will love them. It's so stupid to keep and abuse a dog...this same dog is likely to give up his life to save his owner the same ass who beats him. We can make a difference, it's just as easy as up the telephone and reporting the abuse. It's all confidential.
I'd go as far as to steal that animal if need be. They deserve so much better.

I remember in high school doing something to a fish's respiration and being so traumatized that I walked out of class and decided that science was not for me. I still regret not standing up for that fish. How sad that compassionate students, who would make wonderful health workers, should be expected to perform such cruel acts when non animal alternatives are far superior teaching tools.
