StoptheDrugWar.org (DRCNet) is the leading publisher of online educational information about the failed "drug war," including the Drug War Chronicle newsletter and the Speakeasy blog. Our efforts have played a major role in getting Congress to scale back a law that delays or denies financial aid to students because of drug convictions, and we sponsor the John W. Perry Fund, a scholarship assisting students in that situation. Our 2003 Latin America conference, "Out from the Shadows: Ending Drug Prohibition in the 21st Century," drew high level participation from across the region including legislators from six countries. Our 2009 agenda includes campaigns to restrict the use of SWAT teams to emergency situations; to repeal drug penalties in welfare, public housing and financial aid law; to encourage mainstream media to deal with prohibition and its consequences in their drug reporting; and a major expansion of our web site.

- Enact some form of legalization of drugs, probably involving regulation, globally.
- End mandatory minimum sentencing, and reduce the use of arrests and incarceration.
- Medical freedom, including medical marijuana, making methadone prescribing easier, and freeing pain prescribing from the chilling effect of the DEA.
- Harm reduction, including needle exchange programs, heroin maintenance, 911 Good Samaritan laws for when people have to report overdoses, for example.
