In the feature documentary "The Cove," a team of activists and filmmakers infiltrate a heavily-guarded cove in Taiji, Japan. In this remote village they witness and document activities deliberately being hidden from the public: More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat.
The majority of the world is not aware this is happening. The Taiji cove is blocked off from the public. Cameras are not allowed inside and the media does not cover the story. It's critical that we get the word out in Japan. Once the Japanese people know we believe they will demand change.
I am a foster mom for the local Humane Society. I have a little guy named Mason that I am fostering and plan to adopt as soon as he is cleared for adoption. Mason was part of a litter that had Parvo, 3 of the pups did not survive in spite of the excellent veterinary care provided by the Humane Society. Mason is clean of Parvo now but, has another intestinal infection and dematectic mange. I can't tell you how much money they have put into his care and treatment so far and he still has, at least, 6 weeks of treatment to go...maybe much more! The Humane Society has not hesitated to approve any care that the vet recommended. Please, if you can help in any way...donate, foster or adopt. It feels so good to give hope to these little ones that some people think are "disposable".
If you're in the Idaho area consider joining "Support the Idaho Humane Society!" cause. It only has 35 people, and needs help growing. The humane society does a great job, and it is definitely a worthy cause to support!! http://apps.facebook.com/causes/...

The U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP Committee) will “mark-up” S.510, the Senate version of the (sic) “Food Safety” bill on Tuesday, November 18, 2009. This is the last step before a full Senate vote, which could happen in the next few days.
The Senate bill can be read at: http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/query /z?c111:S.510:
This bill has an even weaker Family Farm and Ranch, Community and Home Garden exemption than the bill (HR.2749) which passed the House at the end of July. See our blog entry at:

Most of my pets are rescues. Hubby and I always adopts puppies from shelters and we found kittens, one at hubby's work and other was in woods and they are soo adorable/cuddlable. Its like they are so grateful we rescued them from rough life. They give us unconditional love. I am hoping that my children will continue loving animals for rest of their lives and rescue many! My goal is continue to rescue as many as I can until I die!
