Recently there have been a few questions on the status of the school we are building in partnership with the Mali Rising Foundation. The Neways Academy is currently under construction and on schedule for completion in February. Earlier, the project did experience several months of delay due to the decision to move the location of the school. The Neways Academy is being built in Touban, a remote village in the southern region of Sikasso. This area is approximately 500km away from the capital and even further away from the area that is currently experiencing political unrest.

The Neways Gives program decided to proceed with this cause in Mali with the hope to help children there lift their nation, the third poorest in the world, out of poverty and to help provide a brighter future through education. We are committed more than ever to assist children in Touban to learn and grow in the hopes that the aid we provide will in some small part help foster safety, equality and opportunity in their nation.

Currently Touban is made up of 1,800 families. While the village has its own elementary school which is attended by 258 students, there is no middle school so seventh through ninth grade students who are able to attend school must go to a neighboring village. There are about 182 middle school students currently, 78 girls and 104 boys, who will attend the Neways Academy of Touban. Without the support of our outstanding markets and Distributors, many of these children would not move past elementary school.

We will keep you updated as we continue to move forward on this project, and release a public statement upon completion of the school.

All the best,

Robert Conlee, CEO.

Because both my sons are deeply involved with humanitarian projects and have spent many hours trying to raise more funds and awareness. There is a disparate need for education and supplies in Mali.....and I try to support them in their efforts, as much as I can.
