The Breast Cancer Site was founded to help offer free mammograms to women in need: women for whom early detection would not otherwise be possible. Every click on the pink "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button funds free mammograms for women in need. Mammograms are one of the best methods to catch breast cancer before it's too late. In fact, if caught early enough, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 96%.
According to a recent report from the American Cancer Society, low-income women in at least twenty states are being turned away or put on long waiting lists for free cancer screenings. At least fourteen states cut budgets for free cancer screenings this year.
Elsewhere in the world, the access to mammograms and the ability to catch the disease in its most treatable stages continues to be unavailable to most women. Yet the rate of breast cancer continues to grow. It is now the most common cancer in women in both developing and developed areas and the principal cause of death from cancer among women globally.
