COPD Foundation

The COPD Foundation has accomplished more than any other organization has ever done in areas of supporting COPD research and developing programs to spread awareness.

Doing so much, so fast, thousands of those affected by COPD have:

1) Connected with resources available by the Foundation,
2) Have educated themselves and their doctors about the treatments they should be receiving,
3) Come together to demand the federal government to provide coverage for their treatments, and voiced their concerns over other policy changes,
4) Educated doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and other medical professionals on how to diagnose COPD early enough to prevent the progression of the disease.

All in all, because the COPD community came together, COPD is now almost always preventable, and almost always treatable.

Now, why isn't it CURABLE?

Nothing matters when you can't breathe.

This isn't your grandfather's disease anymore.

Now do something about it. Don't be left behind.

1. Currently, COPD is the 3rd leading cause of death

2. 12 million Americans are diagnosed with COPD, but another 12 million have it and don't know it.

3. Because so many don't know they have COPD, it costs the U.S. about $47 billion in health care costs (2007).

4. COPD is the ONLY chronic disease that is growing in mortality.
