Bi-lateral lung, single lung and a kidney transplant. Still going strong after 18 years!
opps i forgot to say i received my new liver on april 7, 2009..one week after i was put at the top of the list..God is my Hero!
I am a liver recipient..I became very ill all of a sudden at the end of march of 2009 and ended up in the hospital..it took the doctors a day and a lot of test to figure out i had a very rare liver disease called Wilson's disease...this is a disease where your liver is unable to process copper correctly so copper was storing in my liver my whole life going unnoticed until i started going into acute liver failure..thanks to one family's difficult decisions i recieved a second chance at life and a new liver..i think of my doner every day and every step of the way..i have successfully continued my college education and compete on my school's cross country and track team. I plan to compete in the transplant games this summer in Madison!!

By the grace of God and the generosity of a donor family, I received a liver from a 25 year old male on 04-27-2005. I was 54. Since then I have seen my daughter win a state title ring for field hockey during her senior year and see her graduate from high school. I have seen my son graduate from college, get married the next month and start teaching middle-school Earth and Space science. I am working full-time and belong to the Second Chance at Life group. I have helped to man a number of booths at health fairs and the KY State Fair promoting organ donation and registration on the KY Organ Donor Registry (www.donatelifeky.org). I am fortunate to be alive.
