The Working Boys Center of Ecuador is a Catholic institution committed to working boys and their families, founded with the objective of creating, developing and strengthening moral values by means of changes in attitudes and behavior, helped by programs of formation and social assistance. This process of change stresses ten important areas of life: loyalty, personal formation, family, religion, education, economy, work, recreation, health and housing.
Father Halligan is a Jesuit priest who founded the Working Boys Center in Quito, Ecuador in 1964. Being in an American school when I grew up in Ecuador, my family and I attended Father Halligan's English speaking mass on Sundays. I was even an altar boy growing up and participated in fund raising for the Working Boys Center. I had my first Communion and Confirmation with Father Halligan and still attend his mass to this day every time I visit Ecuador. I personally know Father, the Sisters and the people that run the Working Boys Center and have seen first hand the wonderful work they do for the poor in Quito,Ecuador. Father Halligan has changed the life of unnumerable poor children and their families through his commitment to the Center and his relentless pursuit of bettering the lives of the less fortunate in a third world country. He has received high honors and accolades from the mayor and many prominent people in Quito for his work with the center. I am proud to have grown up in the presence and guidance of a person like Father Halligan and am very happy to be helping the cause of the Working Boys Center.
The Working Boys Center works because of donations made by caring people like yourself. My family and I have donated to this cause all my life and I urge you to help with any amount possible. Helping the poor children of Ecuador and their families is a cause that only we can take upon ourselves to make a difference.
