I just posted a message on our cause wall from Allison from Sojourners' Christians for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Check that out. Last week's event in Phoenix was amazing. There were at least 20 of us who drove out to the event. There is some information and reporting about that on these links. Check them out, le… Read More

Hey Glen!
So great to see you at Phoenix. What an incredible day.
I’m sure you folks in LA are already off and running, figuring out what steps you’ll take next in terms of advocating for CIR. I wanted you to know about 2 things that are happening nationally that you can share with the rest of the group.
1) Feb 10-22 is going to be billed as a massive 2 weeks of action from the faith community in support of passing CIR. “Together, Not Torn: Families Can’t Wait for Immigration Reform,” is a nationwide mobilization of people of faith standing up for families who are being torn apart by our broken system and immigration reform that keeps them together. We anticipate over 100 actions across the country will take place in conjunction with this effort.
We’ve prepared an organizing guide <http://www.interfaithimmigration.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/postcard-delivery-vigil-organizing-guide.pdf> for folks who want to participate through hosting a prayer vigil and inviting their member of Congress to attend. The major thing right now is to make sure our MOCs and politicians hear our cries that we do not want to wait any longer for reforms to our immigration system.
Is this something you or LA folks would be interested in hosting or organizing? We can help with media outreach as well as sharing within our various networks of faith groups. I know you all are well known and well established on this issue, but we’re available to help with anything. I know that the CLUE folks just did an event, but thought I’d just let you know this is happening. Might be a good idea for March, too, if the timeframe is too short.
2) March 21, 2010: Reform Immigration for America Rally. Faith groups based in DC are partnering with the Reform Immigration for America campaign to throw what has now come to be known as a “hail Mary pass” to Congress by organizing a rally on Sunday March 21st with over 100,000 people in attendance. It will be a powerful showing of strength for those of us who have been fighting this for so long, and will send a clear message to congress that our movement is strong and we’re willing to show up in DC.
It would be great if a group from CA could fly out for this. Unlike past years where there have been Chicago, LA, NY events in addition to a DC rally, we’re ALL coming together in DC. We need to show numbers and strength for this, as it may be our last shot.
Let me know your thoughts on this and if you know of any planned SoCal activities happening, shoot them my way so I can make sure national folks know what’s going on.
Take care,
-Allison
