This is for my father who passed away March 16,1996 of a Massive Stroke... Pop you are sadly missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN!!! Love your son Paul xoxox
mom was a very healthy, active and independent person till a week ago. She was home alone when she suffered her first stroke. Two days later in the hospital, she had another one. Two days later, again, another stoke..She is in rehab now and IS getting better day by day. None of us knew the warning signs. I guess it wouldn't have mattered anyway since she was by herself. My aunt JUST HAPPENED to call and check on her..her speech was slurred and she was confused. My uncle took her to the nearest ER..she was then transfered to a hospital specializing in stroke s. She is doing better now in a rehab hosp. Never thought it would happen to my mom....
I had a stroke at Starbucks & nobody there knew the symptoms, including myself. I was 37 with no risk factors & I was healthier than most adults completing one of the hardest endurance events in the world, the Hawaii, IRONMAN. PLEASE be a fan of the page "Think FAST" on Facebook & suggest this page to friends & we will reach 795,000 fans!
Thanks to all who have joined! It is important to know the signs of a stroke, since the faster it is treated, the better the chance of reducing the damage. There are many good sights which detail tests to determine if someone is having a stroke, here is one such site: http://www.strokeassociation.org/pres...
Updated: The cause has reached 12,000 members.
My daughter had a stroke believed to be in utero or shortly after birth. She was not diagnosed till about 10months. She is now 2 and is still in therapy and fighting to regain full movement on her right side.
Unborn Babies,Infants and Children can have strokes too...
I have started a group to help raise awareness and hopefully bring this to Oprah's attention in hopes that we can raise more awareness. Please join the group and pass it along to your friends. Strokes do not discriminate because of age!! Here is also a video I made for my baby girl to raise awareness.

Tomorrow , marks two weeks ago my husband had a massive stroke, I had to fight with the firefighters as they yelled at him to get himself up. Michael was responding, two fingers thumbs up and it stopped I kept asking if it was normal they said it was, then they told me he had more strokes and that is that, I told them I wanted another week and I would reevaluate, we had a feeding tube placed and they were to do a trach for the vent, so I could move him to an acute long term care, today they refused to do a trach and tomorrow will be meeting with me to tell me they will no longer treat my husband aggressivly. I am so alone, he is only 44, this is a nightmare and there are no advocates in my area.
I suffered a stroke 01/02/2010 9 days before my 32nd birthday. I was leaving Red Lobster where we had just ate dinner!! I lost movement of my right arm first we still headed home we live about 30 mins from rest on the way home my right side of mt face went numb and tinkling. I wasnt sure if it was just a TIA which I had before. I called the dr once we got home he said to get to hosptil right away he would meet us there by the time we made the trip back to town another 30 mins i couldnt talk or move my right side I fell out f the car at the er!! The rushed me back and took test then gave me tba that med is a miracle drug it saved my life I was thenput in ICU!! Today I am home on Home health and have pt and speech thep 5 days a week!! I have had migraines for bout 3 years and still do since the stroke they are now saying migraines can casue blood clots which is what casued mine!! I am just so lucky and thanksful to be alive!!
I suffered a stroke 07/23/2008 13 days after my 33rd birthday. I was packing with my mom getting ready to move. I did not know what was happening, my mom who is a nurse knew exactly what was happening. I was slurring my speach and I guess the right side of my face was droopy. I didn't know so I got up and tried to walk across the room. I didn't make it very far before I ended up on the floor. My mom had me to the hospital within 10-15 minutes. I wasn't the best patient. Although I don't remember much I do remember her telling me to recite the pledge of alllegiance or something in the car, I said no. I stayed almost a week in the hospital. I have no long term effects today from the stroke. My memory messes with me sometimes but I will take the small problem compared to what it could have been. I ended up having heart surgery in December of 2008 just before Christmas to close a PFO, a hole in my heart, that they believe the blood clot passed through before going to my brain. But in the end I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world. I had migraines before and I still do today, but I am alive.
My mother in law had hight blood pressure and was with us one minute and gone with a stroke in another
I had a Stroke in Jan. 1999. My whole right side of my body is dead. I was in therapy for 2 1/2 months. You have to re-train your body all over again. Yeah, I get depressed too. Social Security Only goes so far. LIFE is too Precious AND short. Count Your Blessings and be thankfull. MUSIC SAVED ME!! Can you imagine what this World would be like without MUSIC?? Any time I'm feeling so depressed about not being a "Provider", I play music and it vanishes....
MUSIC IS MY INSPIRATION!! A-MEN.
My husband had his stroke Oct, 3, 2009, he was in ICU for 30 days, they said he would never walk or talk again, he is saying some choice words, he is in a rehab center and they are working on his right arm and leg, he still has the feeding tube, he wonts to come home but he cant he need the 24 hour care and rehab, does anyone know what I should do? He cries and very depressed, he cusses me and yells no no no , gd gd gd, oh me he gets so mad, he is not himself his brain is just not right, will he ever get better??????????
I am 39 and have suffered 2 strokes, my first while I was driving a semi which is what I was doing for the last 10 years. I managed to get the truck stopped while not injuring anyone else, and the second came months later. I lost the use of my right side, there were many contributing factors. But the doctors told me 6 months to a year of therapy and that was 5 months ago, I now do an hour of yoga every day and work out in the gym for an hour a day, I really own a big thanks to my mom who would take me down to this park everyday for a walk, it was hard to go around it once but soon i was up to walking arould it 4 times, remember you have to use it or loose it.
My husband had a massive stroke almost 2yrs ago at the age of 41. We still go to therapy and everyday is both a blessing and a challenge. He still has no use of his right arm and minimal use of the right leg. His speech is pretty good. Our greatest challenge is the depression and his lack of motivation as a result. However, I refuse to give up on him and try pushing him as much as I can..
my dad suffered a stroke on October 24, 09 due to added complications and the fact that he was 87 years old, he passed away on Nov. 10,09..this was a total shock to our family as we all thought daddy was as healthy as a horse..never had anything wrong with him, this was totally unexpected, we are all still devastated by this..so sad !!
Strokes are a huge thing in my family and is prevalent on my mother's side of the family. My grandma had a bad stroke when she was at work about 20 years ago. She can still communicate and walk, but needs help driving and taking care of herself. I also have an aunt who had a stroke 2 years ago. At first she didn't remember who anyone was, not even her children. However, with intensive therapy she is able to feed herself, walk, and care for herself with minimal help. Then my mom had a stroke. That was very scary for me, because she denied she had anything wrong with her. Although it was just a TIA, I make sure she takes her medicine and family/neighbors help her out so we can try to prevent another one.
My dad had a stroke on December 16, 2009. He is paralyzed on his left side. He can communicate with us, which we are very thankful for. He hasn't lost his sense of humor! he is in a rehabilitation center, and we are hopeful he will be able to come home someday.
My mom had a stroke in Jan 2000. My mom is paralyzed on her right side and can only say a couple words, mostly yes and no. She communicates well with me and my family. She suffers pain from muscle spasms quite often. Very frustrating for her to not be able to talk an take care of herself. Mom lives with me and my husband and our three sons. I love reading these stories they are very inspiring. Makes me very thankful.
