Due to the efforts of volunteers and staff tirelessly working to achieve MADD's mission, some 300,000 Americans are alive who would have otherwise been killed had drunk driving been allowed to continue at the epidemic levels of 1980.
Although alcohol-related traffic deaths have decreased by more than 40 percent since MADD's founding, drunk driving remains the nation's most frequently committed violent crime. Each year nearly 13,000 people die in impaired driving crashes. Underage drinking remains the No. 1 youth drug problem, killing more young people that all other illicit drugs combined.
Recent Cause Activity
It's been 10 years since I woke up next to my dead husband, upside down in a crushed suv. A drink driver hit us head on doing 85 with his child in the car. They lived but, as a result many lives were forever damaged and broken. Don't Drink and Drive!!
I think the first step in being active in the bars. It is against the law to serve an intoxicated person at a bar. I work for the Arkansas State Police and arrested 21 dwi's in the month of Octocber. All of which were leaving a bar near downtown Little Rock. Two of these were under age leaving a bar and possessed no fake ID.

I was thrown out of a vehicle when a drnuk driver was driving on our way from town going home,had no chioce but to ride with him,almost died with head injuries,,28yrs ago,,
there should be more road blocks. To many people have just not got it. Bars are not complying . How about having the same service that is offered at Xmas thru the year. MADD could get the donations.
My 3 kids have to grow up without their dad because of a drunk driver. It was a Sunday (2008) afternoon when the accident happened and the driver was way over the limit. I am however grateful that my children are still alive! Drinking and driving kills innocent people. At the time my kids were 18months, 2 and half and 5 and half, and it saddens me that they will not know just how GREAT their father was :(
I was involved in a serious head on collision. October 29th 2006, the eleven year old me, innocent as can be, was in the car on the way home from showing off our halloween costumes to our grandparents when a man who was over the legal limit hit our small acura. It killed my parents instantly and nearly killed my then eight year old brother. He suffered extensive injuries, and I still am recovering from teh mental imagse and pain its inflicted on my life.
i lost my oldest brother 3 years ago because of a drunk driver, he was only 16 when it happened, we miss him so much and love him, the lady who was drunk only got 3-7 years in jail, which she will only be serving about 4!! its terrible the way the system is. im sorry for everyone who lost loved ones because people stupid decisions, the pain cant be put into words. =[ ♥
I was 9 when a drunk driver killed my 5-year-old brother. At the time I blamed myself.
I lost my parents to a drunk driver 10 years ago and I miss them both terribly every day of my life! It is too easy for someone to make a wrong choice when they are already drunk...so make the choice before you start drinking to give your keys to someone else!! Please remember that every person hurt, maimed, or killed by a drunk driver is loved by someone!! Don't let than someone be you...trust me when I tell you it isn't something you will ever get over. Please don't drink and drive!!!

My Mom was killed 12 years ago on November 27th. It was Thanksgiving Day, and my life has never been the same. The offender was 3x over the legal limit and had 4 prior DWI's. Why was he still on the road? my little sister 16 at the time was seriously injured but her Heart has never recovered from the pain of loosing our mom. Because we are christians God has given us the tools to forgive him....
