Due to the efforts of volunteers and staff tirelessly working to achieve MADD's mission, some 300,000 Americans are alive who would have otherwise been killed had drunk driving been allowed to continue at the epidemic levels of 1980.
Although alcohol-related traffic deaths have decreased by more than 40 percent since MADD's founding, drunk driving remains the nation's most frequently committed violent crime. Each year nearly 13,000 people die in impaired driving crashes. Underage drinking remains the No. 1 youth drug problem, killing more young people that all other illicit drugs combined.
Recent Cause Activity
I have had too many experiences with alcoholics in my lifetime... Family, friends, friends of friends...I have shed many tears b/c of friends being killed behind the wheel due to alcohol. I can only imagine what the mother's were going through b/c the pain of losing my close friends to drunk driving caused so much heartache. My only question is this: Where could we all be today, together???

My son was killed in 1993 by a drunk driver, himself he was 19 years old not a day goes by that I don't miss him and wonder about what his life might have been like
I have had alcoholics in my life since I was a small girl. I am not sure just what to say except thank you to those of you who work hard to keep those drunk drivers off the streets. Our law enforcement puts their lives in danger each and every day. Thanks Billy cockrell
Laws need to be made to make DWI Arrest more serious! Right now there is very little jail time involved until you are arrested and convicted for DWI 3. We can arrest them and they in most cases will have the DL suspended for 6 months or so. The fine for driving on suspended DL due to DWI is very small. About one third of the drivers ive arrested for DWI were DRUNK DRIVING on SUSPENDED. About one half of the Drivers i catch driving on SUSPENDED, are SUSPENDED due to DWI or have a DWI Histort or both. I would suggest, DWI 1 (BAC .08 or more or refuse BAC) 30 days jail, DL Suspended for 1 year PERIOD! FINE $2500.00, 100 Community Hours.
DWI 2 (BAC .08 or more or BAC rufuse) 90 days jail, DL Suspended for 2 years PERIOD. $5000.00 fine. 200 Hours Community Service.
DWI 3 (BAC .08 or more or BAC refuse) 1 year Jail, (DL REVOKED FOR LIFE) $10,000.00 fine 500 Community Hours.
DWI 4 (BAC .08 or more or BAC Refuse) 5 years Jaill $25,000.00 fine.
Any Driver caught driving on Suspended DL (Susp-For DWI/DUI) $1000.00 Fine, 30 days jail PERIOD.
Any Driver caught driving on suspended DL 2 or more (Susp for DWI/DUI) $5000.00 fine 1 year in jail PERIOD.
Some will say this is too harsh, tell that to the loved ones of the people hurt or killed by these DRUNK DRIVERS.
WE HAVE 25,723 MEMBERS, BUT HAVE ONLY RAISED 390.00. THATS INTRESTING BECAUSE IF EVERYONE GAVE JUST $1, WE WOULD HAVE $25,723!!!!!!!!!!

My brother inlaw killed himself from drinking driving . Maybe he thought he was just buzzed . Buzzed is drunk make no mistake . Maybe just dont drink at all .
