Connecting kids, farms and schools for a healthy diet, healthy environment and supporting local farms.

The Flannel Shirt Fund seeks to connect local farms and schools. This promotes a healthy diet and understanding of where food comes from. This knowledge can help us practice sustainable living. We give out modest grants for seeds, garden tools, field trips to farms, harvest suppers and other nourishing programs.

1. To educate kids on the value of growing organic food. To be local and sustainable. To honor our son Joel, 1984-2008, who cared so much about this.

2. Joel wanted to create these healthy food networks.

3. And his uniform was jeans and a flannel shirt!
