Stopping Water Pollution On The Klamath Starts With You: Learn How!
Come and learn what the Clean Water Act can do for you and your community (and how you can make it happen) tomorrow from 5-7 p.m. at the Panamnik Building in Orleans at a workshop hosted by Klamath Riverkeeper and the California Coast Keepers Alliance.
We'll feed you as we offer insight into how to collect and submit water quality/quantity data to get your local waterbody listed as polluted under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act and then cleaned up! 303(d) listing is the first step in holding polluters accountable and getting rules established to reduce their pollution.
Whether you're concerned about oxygen, algae, mercury, temperature, turbidity, sediment, copper, nickel, e-coli, nitrogen, phosphorous, flame retardant, pesticide or herbicide pollution, this crash course in the nuts and bolts of clean water law and regulation will help local citizens like you better understand how the water board and EPA identify, regulate and clean up water pollution and how you can impact their decisions. We'll also talk about whether the heavily dewatered Scott and Shasta tributaries should be listed as flow impaired and what data is required to get those listings in place.
