Kids play. water pumps! A life-changing and life-saving invention – the PlayPump® water system -- can provide easy access to clean drinking water, bring joy to children, and lead to improvements in health, education, gender equality, and economic development.
When the merry-go-round spins, it pumps uncontaminated drinking water from deep below the ground into a secure and clean 2,500-liter water tank. A simple tap provides easy access for women and children drawing water. Every 15 seconds around the world, a child dies from a disease that came from unsafe water. Especially along the southern edge of Africa, clean drinking water is in short supply. But, it doesn't have to be this way. YOU can make a difference! For as little as $6 dollars you can provide one person with access to clean drinking water for 10 years. PlayPumps International will install 4,000 PlayPump water systems by 2010. The PlayPumps International community never ceases to inspire us. From actors who champion the water cause, to garage bands that pump out a charity hit single, we’ve tapped into some creative minds. But few things compare to a school in America providing safe, clean drinking water to a school in Africa. This is why we were thrilled to learn that New Jersey’s Chestnut Ridge Middle School, along with others in the Gloucester County area, raised $8,302 for our Campaign Malawi!

I'm a grad student in humanitarian assistance and I'm doing my thesis research on how aid organizations communicate via social networking. This is not spam so much as genuine research into your thoughts.

Im doing a huge assignment on this NGO and i was wondering if there were any more visuals available such as, graphs or charts, that i can incorporate into my project b/c it is part of evaluation. Also perhaps an explanation of the types of projects that this NGO is involved in with short term and long term solutions. I know this is overwhelming but i was also wondering if there is any information on the extent of local participation with the projects.

PlayPumps International will be launching a second spin on 100 Pumps in 100 Days on World Water Day. Make a difference and join us in this challenge. From March 22 through June 29, PlayPumps International hopes to raise the funds to provide clean drinking water to 100 schools and communities – or 250,000 people – in sub-Saharan Africa.
