Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
The Rotary Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and others who share its vision of a better world. Contributions to the Foundation's Annual Programs Fund are invested for three years, with interest being used to cover all administrative costs. Fully 100 percent of every dollar donated supports program expenditures three years later. Gifts to the Foundation's Permanent Fund are invested, with only the earnings being used to support programs.
The Foundation was conceived as an endowment fund in 1917 "for the purpose of doing good in the world." Although The Rotary Foundation was formally established in 1928, significant contributions were not received until 1947, when the death of Rotary founder Paul Harris generated an outpouring of support. Since that time, more than US$991 million has been spent on Rotary Foundation programs.
All Rotary Foundation awards are initiated by local Rotary clubs and districts.

My best friend at age 9 was put in a wheelchair because of polio. She and I used to play together and run until then. After that we learned to knit and crochet together. We stilled had fun together but she longed to go outside and play like we did before.

I'm DRR of district 1750 and we sold bracelets Polio + and Rotary. collected funds ( 5 000 euro) are going to allow a vaccination drive in India in February, 2010. All the ROTARACT clubs of the district have participated as well as the other ROTARACT clubs of France.

Después de 20 años de consagrada labor, Rotary y sus colaboradores se encuentran a un paso de erradicar este terrible mal, pero aún se requieren esfuerzos extraordinarios para eliminarlo definitivamente de la faz de la Tierra. Se nos ha brindado una oportunidad de proporciones históricas que no podemos desaprovechar.
Gracias a su contribución, Rotary podrá recaudar US$200 millones para equiparar las subvenciones-desafío por US$355 millones otorgadas por la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates. El monto total de US$555 millones que se espera recaudar financiará directamente campañas de inmunización en los países en desarrollo, donde la polio continúa dejando paralíticos a los niños, despojándolos de su futuro y acentuando las dificultades que deben enfrentar sus familias.
Mientras persista la amenaza de la polio en el mundo, ningún niño estará a salvo independientemente de donde se encuentre. Es mucho lo que está en juego.
