To all S4AF Cause Members-Go to my profile in facebook or check out the album on myspace of the equipment drive. We had a great time! We received over $700.00 in cash donations and received 5-6 large Rubbermaid bins full of donated equipment! Thank you so much to the Nashville Predators for all their support!
Sports 4 All Foundation Grants $300 to Local Athlete
Nashville – Sports 4 All Foundation (S4AF) awarded Michelle Greenway $300.00 through the Enduring Athletes Program to compete in the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Idaho. Michelle is competing in the speed skating portion of the competition.
“Granting the money and some equipment to Michelle epitomizes S4AF’s mission,” said Brandy Hutchison, a S4AF volunteer. S4AF’s mission: to improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities by providing funding, equipment, programming and education to enable full participation in sports and recreation activities.
Sports 4 All was founded in 2005 by Kris Salisbury because she saw that many athletes with disabilities did not have the proper equipment to participate in the activities and sporting events. “Most people with disabilities rarely complain about not having the equipment they deserve because just being present at a recreational activity and being able to socialize and feel accomplished is status quo. I believe they deserve a fair playing field and know how wonderful it would be if everybody could have access to appropriate sporting equipment,” Kris said.
Michelle had been employed by Gaylord Entertainment for 16 years. From the Opryland Hotel, she transferred to the Wildhorse Saloon when it opened some 13 years ago. She lives with her mother and father in a small trailer off Dickerson Road. The grant from S4AF will help to provide Michelle with equipment, clothing and shoes for the World Winter Games.
Sports 4 All Foundation takes new and gently used donated sports equipment and puts it back into the community through collaborations with non-profits serving those with disabilities to improve their quality of life. S4AF has provided equipment and funding to 14 agencies in 9 counties serving over one thousand people with disabilities combined.
