Heal the Bay

Heal the Bay is a nonprofit environmental organization, founded more than 20 years ago by a group of Los Angeles residents who couldn’t stand to let unchecked pollution and toxicity claim our coastal waters and the animals, fish, and birds who live there.

Our strategy is to employ sound science, passionate advocacy, effective legislation and wide-reaching education to improve the quality and health of our beaches and waterways.

It’s working. Our coastal waters are improving. Awareness of what causes pollution is getting better. And we’ve attracted a membership of more than 12,000 people. Today, we are one of the largest local non-profit environmental groups in Los Angeles County.

3. We work cooperatively with government agencies and entities is usually more effective than working against them.

4. We provide solutions and recommendations backed by rigorous, sound science and data because they are more adoptable than those that aren't.
