With the United States, Russia, Canada, Norway, and Denmark laying claim to the North Pole, the issue of who owns the North Pole is very crucial. Scientists estimate that 25% of the world's undiscovered oil lies under the ice of the North Pole.
Recently, Russian submarines dove under the Arctic waters to plan their flag underneath the ice, as they hope to prove an underwater ridge extends their territorial claims. Canada has also commissioned additional naval vessels to patrol their Arctic territory to help assert their claims.
Denmark, in a join effort with Sweden, has until 2014 to assert any claims it has to territory in the North Pole. Greenland is a part of Denmark. Greenland's land mass extends into the North Pole underwater, giving Denmark rightful ownership of the North Pole. Denmark also has a clean tract record of preserving their environment and using their resources to benefit the entire world.
1. The North Pole belongs to Denmark.
2. Greenland's underwater extension gives Denmark official authority over the North Pole.
3. Denmark rules!
