Dear Friends of Himachal :

First of all, Thank you all for your continued support to My Himachal. We at "My Himachal" are looking for new volunteers who would like to join the "My Himachal" Team.

It has been five years since My Himachal was started by a few friends of Himachal. Since then, we have come a long way and we have completed many important milestones. My Himachal now is an Award winning, tax exempt (501(c)(3)) organization in USA and a registered NGO under Himachal Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2006 in India. For 2010, we're looking for new volunteers: enthusiastic people who want to help out, in whichever capacities they are able to. If you want to help with a specific area that you might be interested in, you almost certainly can and we would love to hear from you. Being a My Himachal volunteer not only provides you with a rewarding experience and a sense of giving back to your roots, it is also a fun way to network with some of the best and brightest people inside and outside Himachal.

You might be thinking, "The little bit that I can do will never help much!". Well; My Himachal started with a only a handful of individuals and in the last 5 years we have proven that even the smallest of contributions add up over the long run.

To volunteer for My Himachal Activities, please reply to this email telling us a little bit about yourself and let us know what area(s) you are interested in helping with. We can provide you detailed information of the ongoing projects and where you might be able to fill in. It does not require more than a few hours of effort on your part per month but it can really make a difference in by advancing the projects/activities that we hope to accomplish in 2010.

We have been able to achieve all this through support from you all and through the efforts of My Himachal volunteers. In 2010 we hope that with support from you, we are going to do way better than last year.

Dear friends,

We have received 108 eligible applications for HOPE Scholarships (School) 2009. These applicants, on average have obtained 72% marks during the last academic year and belong to families (with 5 members) supported by an income of Rs. 25,000/- p.a (USD 556/- p.a.)

We need at least Rs, 2, 80,000/- to support these applicants this year. However, based on available funds, we can only support about 35 of them at this time.

PLEASE HELP as much as you can, to enable these deserving and needy students. A donation of USD 55/- (Rs. 2475/-) can help us fund the scholarship for 1 student.

We would like to start disbursing scholarships by December 15th 2009. We will be able to support as many students as possible based on your help with funds.
