The blasts that shattered the peaceful August 7 night caught the people of Georgia by surprise, but <i>The Fellowship</i> was by no means unprepared. The response of our relief efforts came swiftly as countless people suddenly found themselves in unexpected peril.
Thankfully, the Fellowship working with our partners, the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) have people and programs in place to help in this unexpected explosion of need. The Rabbi’s Emergency Fund provides the resources necessary to bring urgent relief and emergency aliyah to homeless and helpless victims of the violence. The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was founded in 1983 to promote understanding between Christians and Jews and to build support for Israel and the Jewish people. Over the last 25 years we have helped hundreds of thousands of Jews escape poverty and anti-Semitism and return to Israel, funded humanitarian assistance that has touched the lives of millions of Jews in Israel and around the world, provided life-giving aid to Israel's victims of war and terror, and much more. Positions
- Tens of thousands of people have been displaced, their homes destroyed. Among them thousands of Jews. They are traumatized by the violence.
- There is tremendous need for food, water, medical supplies and basic necessities for the people of Georgia.
- There are many Jews, nearly 500, who want to escape the war zone by making emergency aliyah (immigrate to Israel).
- The Fellowship's Rabbi's Emergency Fund is providing food, medicine and shelter to those affected by the conflict.
