Rest Ministries (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit)

RM serves people who live with chronic illness or pain by providing spiritual, emotional relational and practical support. Rest Ministries also equips church in the US to minister to and with the chronically ill. Through programs and resources we seek to transform hurting Christians into disciples and un-believers into Christians who live with faith and hope. Living with rheumatoid arthritis, founder, Lisa Copen discovered a lack of resources, organizations and overall support within the Christian community for the individual who lives with illness. When confronted with illness, non-believers realize that their lives, like their bodies, are not invincible, and they search for answers; while churches avoid confronting confusing healing theologies, New Age faiths eagerly reach out with warmth and answers to their questions. Christians feel that no one understands, as they are faced daily with comments such as just pray harder and you need to have more faith

I have read so many comments, and post here and it has overwehlmed me , that there are so many people who share my frustration( not anger). As Angel wrote :
"But you don't look sick" I have heard that sentence so many times! Not that I would ever wish My problems on anyone ever ..If these people would spend Just 1 hour in my body ???? But I hope that by all of us that can posting our stories..maybe just maybe ...we can make these Illnesses "VISABLE" ..this has been a hard journey for me ..I have always been such a private person...and tought to keep personal things to myself..Smile and the world smiles with you ! and at my age ? it not easy to change your mind set. Blessed Be to all...Love and Peace

Many people say "But you don't look sick" and that is one statement that makes me very reflective... It also makes me crazy to an extent, however you have to think about what you really do look like to them. I know at times I may not look like there is nothing wrong with me but do invite anyone to step inside my body and my mind for a half hour and I guarantee they would be begging to be in their own body again. This is an excellent way for people to gain knowledge of how people suffer and you could just be walking by or sitting right next to one of us and never even know it. Yes I smile yet the pain is always my constant companion... Have a blessed day.. Count your blessings... peace n hugs... 0:)

Well, In the last 15-20 yrs. I've been thru..Migraines(started @age 9)which caused me to have a stroke in 1990, since I've had 2 heart attacks..i sufer from Asthma, RA,
Fibromyalgia,NCS,CFS, degenerative disc , and spinal nerve deterioration...I've been on 12 different meds ,that I take 3-4 times a day..that still don't take the pain away!
for the most part they may just take the edge off ...it takes me 30-45 mins. just to get out of bed in the morning???YEAAA....and after being up 2 hour , i'm so tired ..you would think I'd been up for days...I have no energy ..to do anything.
And I feel like the Doc's just brush me in and out of their offices...
I had to give up a job I had for allmost 30 yrs.
