To transform lives through dependable, self-powered and environmentally friendly technologies.
The link between poverty and the lack of access to clean, modern energy is profound. Energy for lighting and communications are basic needs – and out of reach for millions of people around the world.
The Lifeline Energy wants to change all that. Our wind-up and solar-powered Lifeline radios provide sustainable access to information and education.
Millions of dollars are spent worldwide each year to produce excellent radio programming for development purposes, yet the poor may never hear it. They are unlikely to receive critical information that can help them prevent deadly diseases, improve hygiene, raise agricultural productivity, learn English and math through radio distance learning, or enjoy any educational instruction that could help lift them out of abject poverty and lower mortality rates. Lifeline radios can solve the problem of access for these audiences.
Since 2003, more than 215,000 Lifeline radios have been distributed, conservatively reaching eight million listeners.
Solar-powered, wind-up lighting can liberate the poor from hazadous fuel-based lighting. Lifelights can be safely used for studying, grading papers, home-based micro-enterprises, night time sales, night births and other medical emergencies and increased security.
Our projects address the pressing needs of orphans and other vulnerable children, women and refugees.
