What Now America is dedicated to working with inner-city youth to provide support in the areas of "Basic Societal Needs," on an ongoing basis.
The What Now America program is tailored to the youth of West Oakland as a community resource. Through our involvement in the community, we hope to cultivate a trusted position that can provide a safe and supportive environment in which youth are able to feel secure. Our mission is to offer weekend and after-school programs that promote personal development, physical and behavior wellness, and academic success, while supporting youth empowerment, community involvement, and cultural pride.
1. More than 80% of West Oakland residents are at or below a high school degree.
2. Thirty-three percent of Oakland’s current population ranges from preschool age to 17 years of age.
3. Change should come in the form of an after school-tutoring program for at-risk youth in West Oakland.
