I met with a former inmate of San Quentin in his hometown of Pittsburg, Ca. this week! He was one of the several hundred men that we have helped with resources to reenter society after incarceration. We helped get him in to a substance-abuse treatment program once he was paroled. He was there for 120 days, has been on his own for two months now and is doing fabulous! Good job, clean & sober, good head on his shoulders! It was very rewarding to witness his success. He said he couldn't have made it this far without us! Go Porfie!

thank you for remembering me Allyson! I am still heart broken that I could not intern with you for my BS. I am starting SJSU MSW program this fall, maybe I can intern with you this time! Also, I send you an email requesting info on board membership! I would love the opportunity to come alongside you with this project. I think its amazing!
I'm very concerned about the plight of the inmate and the odds against them. I visit Folsom State Prison weekly, meet and talk with inmates at a high security prison in one of the toughest facilities on the property. There is not a lot of hope. I can see these are not hardened criminals even though they may be serving life without parole. These are not the same men that came to prison. So what happens if they get out? Do you think the State is going to help? Faith based organizations are making the biggest impact. Check out www.capa.com that is Christian Associations for Prisoner Aftercare. These are the people who are making a difference. Our lame system only to lock them up again. The statistics are shameful. Please post SOMETHING here to express how you feel and what you know.
