To stop the transfer of cancer services from Sligo to Galway
Sligo Genral Hospital serves a wide area of the North West of Ireland. currently it provides cancer care treatment to the people of that area for a range of cancers including Breast, bowel and Prostate. the services include assessment, diagnoses, surgery and chimotheraphy, the only treatment that people have to travel for is Radiotheraphy. Now under a new plan for the national treatment of cancer the only treatment that will be abailable in Sligo will be chimotheraphy. All other services will be provided in Galway a journey of 86 miles each way - you can add another 30 depending where people live in Donegal, Cavan or Leitrim. What did we do to diserve this? the health of the people from the North West of Ireland will suffer as result of this imposed travel barrier to services.
1. Sligo General Hospital provides a top class service. the journey to Galway is too far 86 miles each way.
2. Patients will have to travel for assessment, diagnoses, surgery and rediotheraphy. Its a lot to ask from people who are ill.
3. Leave the excelent services that are there as Galway can not cope with the demands that are on it's services now. Stop the move...
4. following the transfer of breast cancer services to Galway Genreal Hospital there is now growing concern about the down grading of sligo Hospital
