To empower parents & schools to work collaboratively for the compliant & effective delivery of special education.
KPS4Parents is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists parents of children with disabilities to negotiate the bureaucracy of special education and other public agency resources appropriate to their children's needs. We work with families and public schools to build positive collaborations whenever such bridge-building is achievable. We assist parents in pursuing appropriate remedies when violations occur and the public agencies involved refuse to come into compliance and provide proper intervention to students.
1. All children, regardless of disability, are entitled to a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
2. Parents/guardians are critical members of any team that makes educational decisions about their children.
3. Children in the foster care system are equally protected under special education law as their peers who are not in foster care.
4. Teachers are on the "front lines" and usually lack the resources they need to teach all of their students.
5. Bureaucratic inefficiencies and administrator pride & ego frequently interfere with the successful delivery of special education.
