This is a very cool program. I have dedicated most of my adult life to big cats, and I am impressed with Lion Guardians. Keep up the great work!

Hi Pam, See you when you get here! And yes, you can buy some cards - I have some here. The rains are just starting, and some green shoots are poking through finally, so it will hopefully be beautiful and green for your trip! All the best,
Amy

Sorry for the delayed reply! We have sent many people in different parts of the country to check the shelves and we couldn't find Furadan being sold. Fantastic news.

But now we need to make sure that the generic form of Furadan 'carbofuran' cannot be imported and sold under a different trade name, which is currently still legal.

We have just heard the news that Furadan, the agricultural chemical and poison that is being used to kill wildlife, in particular hyenas, lions and vultures, has been withdrawn from sale in the areas of Africa where there are predators. Distributors have been asked to buy back stocks and we hope that it will no longer be on the shelves within 8 weeks.

This is great news, but addressing the reasons why people want to eradicate lions in the first place is key to the conservation of this species. If we don't solve this then people will always find a way to kill lions.

Please read our blog http://lionguardians.wildlifedirect.org/ and website www.livingwithlions.org to see how we are working towards solving this problem in Kenya.

Thanks everyone, for your support and donations. Saving large carnivores is a great challenge, and we are very grateful for any help.

I go to school at Ohio University and I saw the episode of 60 minutes and as a huge animal lover it really upset me. I was actually crying because I couldn't believe that this was going on and nobody is aware of it. I've already donated 25 dollars of my own and I'm going to try to get others to donate money and I'll donate that money as one large donation. I want to do everything I possibly can to help this cause so if anybody has any ideas of anything else I can try to do please let me know.

I watched the 60 Minutes show and it broke my heart. I have emailed FMC and posted their email address on blogs to get them to stop selling the poison, as well as buy back the poison from the merchants...I also have set up monthly donations with lionconservation.org...I adore lions!!!!!
