These much needed funds are helping us to ensure that cooking skills are not lost in LA through the creation of an inspiring training program that will teach locals to run cooking classes in schools and community centers.
Through our Food Education Program we aim to build an army of trained Food Revolution Instructors to put cooking back into the community and to equip families with the skills they need to know how to cook with fresh ingredients, empowering people to incorporate a variety of balanced meals into their lives, replacing processed foods and sustainably changing their eating habits ultimately fighting obesity from their home kitchens.
The results of the Food Revolution to date include:
- Over 2000 people have been trained in Huntington’s Kitchen.
- Huntington Kitchen runs a successful weekly “Fresh Market”.
- Jamie’s school lunches have expanded to all 28 Cabell County public schools, which includes 12,500 students with 8 other counties in West Virginia introducing 100% from-scratch meals at breakfast and lunch provided to all students regardless of their family’s income, free of charge.
- Flavored milk, processed chicken nuggets and corn dogs have been banned in all LAUSD schools.
- Over 700 people have completed the cooking course on the Food Revolution Truck.
In 2012 we will continue to work at a local, national and global level tackling the obesity crisis through better food education using a network of Food Revolution kitchens, our flagship Food Truck, online hub, engaged social media, School Kitchen Garden pilot program and growing grassroots movement powered by an amazing army of local community groups. Every donation you make helps us continue our work and improve the health prospects of the next generation.

Jamie’s Food Revolution is a project of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation* whose purpose is to change the way America eats by educating every child about food, giving families skills and knowledge to cook again, and motivating people to stand up for their rights to better food; which in turn will fight the epidemic of diet-related diseases.
Jamie's U.K. charity, the Jamie Oliver Foundation, is partnering with U.S. non-profit, America Gives Back, until the Food Revolution’s new U.S. non-profit, the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, is operational. Gifts to this project will support the Food Revolution and the work of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation.
