Urge Thailand to Ban the Trade of Ivory

Victory-ribbon
We did it! Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has pledged to start a legislative process to end ivory trade in Thailand.
Ending ivory trade in Thailand – currently the world’s largest unregulated ivory market – will go a long way in stemming a global poaching crisis that is leading to the slaughter of tens of thousands of elephants each year and fuelling a global criminal trade in animal parts. Thanks for your dedication and action to ban ivory trade in Thailand.

To: Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra

I am greatly concerned about the record levels of elephant poaching in Africa. Demand for illegal ivory products could drive the species to extinction in Africa, and Thailand's elephants could be next. I urge you to ban all ivory trade in Thailand to help save them.

Every day across Africa, wild elephants are being slaughtered to meet the insatiable demand for ivory. Entire herds are being poached out of existence to supply the illegal trade of ivory carvings and trinkets in Asia.

The scale of illicit activity is staggering in places like Thailand. Poachers and organized crime syndicates there are making millions of dollars a year, turning this Southeast Asian nation into the largest unregulated ivory market in the world.

Exploiting a legal loophole that permits the sale of ivory from Thailand's domestic elephants, criminals can pass off illegally obtained African ivory as being from domestic sources and get away with selling it on the legal open market. This must stop.

Tell Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra she can help save the world's elephants by banning the Thai ivory trade.

Signed. We have a piano with ivory keys. We would never purchase ivory but it's been in the family for many decades, and has been passed down from our great grandmother. It is a horrible, archaic trade that NEEDS to stop, but I will continue to play on the piano, as to throw it away or sell it would only further diminish the importance of those poor dear creatures who perished in order for it to be created.
I don't mean to detract from this grave issue but this is a similar issue I'd like to bring to your attention; I hope you support it. Thank you <3 http://www.causes.com/actions/1736270-petition-stop-the-torture-slaughter-of-animals-for-fashion

if sb is doing sth wrong and you reprimand them out of superiority, they wont listen. if i told you, you fat american stop being such a arab murderer'' would you listen? you wouldnt even consider my words to be true. who are u to judge them!!! showing in a compassionate manner that they'r wrong works much better.

If idiots do not want the ivory for collections and jewelry there would be no reason to kill elephants at all.

Unless Plant based food is resorted to -as a life style-nothing major will change. Selective kindness to some species and selectively rearing some species as food: would look only as hypocritical behaviour.

Ivory looks best on Elephants

There should be a clear link and clear instruction as to how to SIGN this petition.

Stoppt diese Tierquälereien......:-(

Instead of breaking Elephant tooth for false show, its better to be concerned about oral hygiene and upkeep of personal denture. People get attracted by glimpsing at your healthy, white shining teeth and not by the ivory you possess; that has blood after all.

Please do not sign this, I have family in South Africa, the people of S. Africa are going after the poachers, risking their lives. This is ridiculous. Please read Susan not Susie(I'm Susie) Lottering, Read all about her please, she lives in S. Africa & is going after Poachers. Please
