Haven't seen any humanitarian corridors established to provide Palestians with food, water, drugs, fuel nor safe areas designated, especially all existing hospitals.

While Israel has a right to defend itself and the US has armed Israel over the years ($3B/year) it does not have a right to bomb Palestians civilians and infrastructure which is not only a war crime but escalatory as Hezbollah may join the fray in the north even if Lebanon and Jordan don't officially.

Asking 1M civilians to evacuate in 24 hr is not feasible even if they all had cars, had a place to go, and roads that were not bombed. Think about the planning that goes into US evacuations for fires and hurricanes where 2-3M people are involved that happen over days, to shelters with provisions where everyone has a vehicle.

Time to remind Israel about the rules of war, and  not destroying civilians or non-military infrastructure.

It sounds more and more like Israel is about to commit mass casualties, possibly genocide, in Gaza starting as soon as their morning tomorrow.

The international community and our US leadership needs to speak out loudly and strongly that while the horrors of last weekend were abominable and terrorism cannot be accepted, the destruction of human lives in retribution and in violation of international law is completely unacceptable.

Netanyahu has long been a right-wing extremist when it comes to treatment of the Palestinian people, and it looks like he's finally found his reason to carry out his darkest impulses.

May God have mercy on the people of Gaza.

I read the whole comments.  I will look at another alternative.

The enmity between Israel and Hamas is complex and multifaceted, butI believe that religion and claims to religious buildings certainly play a role.

Both Israel and Hamas are religious movements with strong ties to Judaism and Islam, respectively. Jews believe that the land of Israel is promised to them by God, while Muslims believe that Jerusalem is the third holiest city in Islam. The Temple Mount/Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in Jerusalem is sacred to both Jews and Muslims, and competing claims to the site have been a source of tension and violence for centuries.

So one could say the war going on is because of religion and land grab on both sides.

I don't know what the solution is other than for them to grow up and realize religions are not good reasons to go war.  Historically, many wars happened because of religions.

Biden is correct. An Israeli ground invasion of Gaza could very well prove to be a collosal mistake.

    There is a good chance of it proving counterproductive in terms of subdoing Hamas;

A good chance of serious unintended consequences,

    A chance of it sparking a larger confilct in the region, including possible world war;

And finally, a full scale invasion in civilian territory will likely paint Israel in a very negative light internationally.

IDF continues to lie.  "They beheaded babies"  Not True.

"There's tunnells underneath this cemetary for HAMAS"  Not true, just an excuse to dig up dead bodies and dump them like garbage on the border for psychological warfare.

IDF Murder and Torture Porn Channel (Compared to Horrors of Abu Ghraib)   and they tru to excuse themselves.

NO other country would be given a free pass for all of this, and neither should they.

The President and many advisers are working around the clock to advocate for both hostages and Israel. Palestinian people need to be heard but do not need representation by Hamas -or Iran or other outside groups.

I'm saddened by recent events and worried about the implications for the United States and our NATO allies. Although this attack seemingly did not make intelligence agency's radar, it's been brewing for a while & Isreal is not blameless, in my opinion.

This region has been fought over for centuries, because of religion. I find it ironic that the major tenet of each of these religions is, in a sense, "the Golden Rule".

To tell the truth, I'm not sure how I feel.  While, I don't condone the attack, I know that Israel is not innocent as they have launched attacks in the past that seemed unprovoked (although I don't live over there so I can't really say for sure that the past attacks on Gaza were without provocation).  All I know is that both sides have acted like spoiled toddlers and need to sit down like real adults and work out some solution that benefits both sides.  Obviously, Gaza has reasons to not like or trust Israel and likewise Israel has reasons to not like or trust Gaza, but at some point this shit has to stop to stop the senseless killing on both sides.

Okay, as a liberal, but also as a Jewish person, I've tried to avoid commenting on this site, but here's the thing, as I see it:
    1) you can support Israel without agreeing with its government. Frankly, I think Netanyahu is a real asshole. And that's despite the fact that we both graduated from the same high school. However, I support Israel's right to exist and defend itself against those who would see to destroy it.
    2) you can support the Palestinians without being antisemitic. I do, in fact. However, check your history. There's a reason the West Bank and Gaza strip exist and it's not because the ancestors of the current residents thought they would be nice vacation spots. Read up on Jordan's and Egypt's roles in creating these two sectors and how they responded to Palestinian requests for asylum after Israel's victory in 1948.
    3) you cannot support Hamas without being antisemitic. Or kind of horrible. As a billboard I saw the other day said, "There is no excuse for kidnapping, rape, and murder." No matter how sympathetic you may find the Palestinian cause (it is) or how horrible you may find Israel's current administration (they are), what happened on October 7 cannot be justified. Nor can a call for completely obliterating a sovereign state.

    Anyway, my 2¢.

Good on the President for saying what he said.

President Biden called Hamas' attack on Israel "pure unadulterated evil," as he vowed, "We stand with Israel."

"We'll make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of itself," Biden said Tuesday from the White House.

Hamas militants attacked Israel on Saturday, killing more than 900 people, including at least 14 Americans. Israel has responded with a siege and heavy bombing of the Gaza Strip.

"Like every nation in the world, Israel has the right to respond — indeed has a duty to respond — to these vicious attacks," Biden said.

Biden has expressed full-throated support for Israel in the wake of what he and his officials have described as terrorist attacks.

The United States continues to fund Israel.

I believe that Netanyau is at the root of the problem.  He needs to be replaced with someone that is more moderate and has compassion and empathy for civilians.  His behavior is inexcusable - from the enormous amount of children that have been killed to the sabotaging of aid to the Palestinians to the killing of aid workers and journalists.  He may have started off on the right foot  -attempting to destroy Hamas for their unjustified attack and taking of hostages but he has gone far beyond that premise.  I am Jewish and I support Israel but I do not condone senseless murder of innocent people.  Our aid to Israel should have conditions on it - not a blank check. If he attempts to invade Rafah, we should hold back all aid.  You can't tell people to go there to be safe and then bomb them into oblivion. There needs to be consequences. Netanyau and his cronies have forgotten what the Nazi's did to the Jews.  Their actions are no better.

G7 Diplomats have urged the ICC to hold off on charges and not disrupt negotiations for hostage release and ceasefire. Palestinians need food and medical care more immediately than ICC justice. The U.S. needs to support the G7, and let Netanyahu and his cronies answer for their actions per international law.

The ICC has said that there have been no changes, and no arrest warrants have been issued which require validation by 3 judges,

Imment action maybe rumors started by Netanyahu as he is the only person commenting on this.

Netanyahu who has not done anything requested by Biden, of course wants Biden to protect him.

" Diplomats from the G7 industrialised nations have urged officials at the international criminal courtnot to announce war crimes charges against Israel or Hamas officials, amid concerns that such a move could disrupt the chances of a breakthrough in ceasefire talks."

" The ICC has not commented officially and has advised diplomats that it is not aware of any dramatic moves in the investigation."

"The ICC rumours started to swirl on Friday when Netanyahu said forthcoming decisions by the ICC could set a dangerous precedent."

"The ICC’s Khan said during a visit to Egypt in December that the investigation was “moving forward at pace, with rigour”.

"One of his first acts as prosecutor was to establish a dedicated team to investigate the Palestinian situation. In a speech in Egypt in which he condemned the 7 October raid by Hamas on Israel and underlined that the taking of hostages was a war crime, he also said of people in Gaza: “The fact that innocent civilians are trapped under the weight of a war they cannot escape and which is not their fault is not tenable.”

"Any ICC arrest warrants could put Israeli officials at risk of arrest in other countries. They would also serve as a major rebuke of Israel’s actions at a time when pro-Palestinian protests have spread across US college campuses and elsewhere."

"US diplomats at the UN insisted that Washington regarded the ICC as independent and it would not be interfering in its decision-making process. The US and Israel do not recognise the jurisdiction of the ICC, which is vested with the task of prosecuting war crimes."

"According to a report on the Axios news website, Netanyahu has appealed to Biden to intervene to stop the warrants being issued. The US is not a member of the court, but under the Trump administration it sanctioned court officials after complaining about its investigations of US military operations in Afghanistan and Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories."

"Asked about the prospect of ICC warrants, the White House spokesperson, Karine Jeanne-Pierre, said: “We’ve been really clear about the ICC investigation. We don’t support it; we don’t believe that they have the jurisdiction.”

"US politicians spoke out, with the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, saying: “Such a lawless action by the ICC would directly undermine US national security interests. If unchallenged by the Biden administration, the ICC could create and assume unprecedented power to issue arrest warrants against American political leaders, American diplomats, and American military personnel, thereby endangering our country’s sovereign authority.”

I do understand the difficulty the Biden administration has when dealing with the Netanyahu government and I do appreciate that he and VP Harris have been using stronger language regarding the need for Israel to better protect Palestinian civilians but...

Netanyahu and his extremist cabinet do not seem interested in protecting civilians in Gaza.  They only fired those responsible for murdering a clearly marked aid group because celebrity chef Jose Andres has such a high profile internationally and was so vocal about that atrocity that Israel could not ignore the outcry.

I've read stories from independent journalists and heard stories on NPR radio detailing not only the struggles of ordinary people to just remain safe but how many are literally starving to death.  I have read about things IDF has done to hospitalized patients and their doctors (torture and executions) that are every bit as horrific as the atrocties committed by Hamas on October 7.

Israel's allies continue to send them weapons of war seemingly without conditions.  This is LEVERAGE WE MUST USE.

When the last remaining survivors of the Nazi Holocaust are speaking out against Israel's actions we should be listening and then acting.

Right now is not a good time to charge one side with war crimes. In truth there are two levels of action that are required to make a case for crime: unacceptable death and damage AND intention. The intention part is far more persuasive on the Hamas side, and I would argue, that results in the unacceptable damage and death. All that said, I agree that now is not the right time based on trying to keep pressure on getting hostages freed in exchange for an extended cease fire.

Personally, I'd like to see a stronger response to hold Israel's feet to the fire re. their scorched earth policy.  I don't deny that Israel has a right to defend itself and that the Hamas attack was horrible, but Israel is going way, wya over the top with their response.  It's time to stop killing civilians, time to release the hostages, and time to negoitate an end to the war and develop a solutioln that will give each party statehood.

One can be both pro-Israel, yet anti Netyanhu.  I am living proof.   While Netanyahu is in power, with all of his corruption, while he has been, for decades, trying to goad the USA into war with Iran, to the point that he bombed the embassy of a soverign nation , located in the borders of another soverign nation it is high time that our leaders not only disavow AIPAC, but throw it's leaders and members into Federal prison.

After that, then give Netanyahu this option-stop this genocide or else the USA will publicly disavow Israel and sever all ties.  he may be corrupt but he is NOT stupid, and if he withdraw all support and publicly annoyunce we are no longer an ally, Isarel won't last a year.

THAT's how you get someone to do something you want.

How about the folks on The Hill start doing THAT....oh wait!  Too mahy are busy cashing those sweet sweet checks from AIPAC, eh?

I don't like the way separatists are trying to divide this country.  It is not either Israel or Gaza/Palestine.  It is Israel AND Gaza/Palestine against Hamas.

There needs to be a place to take the women and children to safety, after they are checked for wepons.  Egypt could have provided a few acers to this just across the borer.  Men and women would have background and safety checks.  The men who pass could be reunited with their families at this point, out of danger.  This would allow Israel to come in and clean out the invading forces.  Hamas took Gaza by force and now the people are so terriffied that they can't see any other life.

The region needs to work together to evict the terrorist from open activities and controling areas by force.  I'm sure each invaded country didn't mean to let them stake claim.  The region has had tribal disputes for centuries.  It was only as tribes banded together that they were able to create countries.  There are both religious and civil laws, that would make Americans rebel, that they have to follow.

The college kids and the invading instigators are not understanding that this war is NOT against the Palestinian people of Gaza, but against Hamas terrorists.  They need to understand the situation, but at that age "they know better than adults".

Thank you President Biden for maintaining the course and supporting Israel and the region while not committing troops to the ground.  I hope the current round of peace talks can succeed and we can get all the hostiges home.  Hopefully then more talks can get Hamas OUT.  It would be so wonderful to see what peace looks like in the region.

I don't think all republicans, but the groups that are using this situation to further their desires should leave it alone.  We need to join together and LEAD the country.  Not play, I"m going to take my ball and go home if you don't do it my way.  The government is not the playground and the playground children do GROW UP.  Act like respectible adults who can work together to take care of the people, not their own pocketbooks, provide the resources to lift everyone out of the gutter and into a productive life.  Let's learn more about PEACE and WORKING TOGETHER.

In my opinion, neither side can claim to be 'right', which complicates the response. However, as time goes on, Israel seems to be promulgating the worst of the offenses. The US has traditionally supported Israel but Israel is abusing that support and trust with its current actions. And so I think the US should be working towards a cease fire.

Fucking hypocritical. Since it is an "ally" we are bending over backwards to excuse this behavior. But if it were an "enemy" we'd go to any lengths to punish this behavior whether the reasons for their behavior were the same or not. I am an atheist, so I don't care for religion in general, but I can't stop wondering why it is that Muslims, Jews, and Christians can't get along when the roots of their religion are pretty much all the same. Seems like they should all be singing kumbayah together rather than killing each other. This is a fundamentalism problem, in my opinion. Fundamentalism shuts your ears and closes your heart and makes you believe that you are the only right and true whatever. Stupid. And people have to die because you are being stupid. I'm sure, did god exist, he'd be hootin' and hollerin' over all the bloodshed. Yay! They're killing themselves for me! They love me! They really, really love me!

The response so far after shock of October 7th wore off, is designed to comfort the terrorists Hamas. The Administration is not counteting the propaganda and actually giving aid and comfort to Hamas.
