January 9, 2013 produced two major events: Del Monte recalled their Milo's Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers; Nestle Purina 'withdrew' their ENTIRE line of Waggin' Train and Canyon Creek Ranch treats, all for residual illegal antibiotics. Several smaller companies who source their jerky from the same Chinese facilities then followed suit: Cadet, Publix, & Hartz publicly pulled their product while Beefeaters has quietly disappeared from the market.

What DIDN'T happen? DOGSWELL did NOT recall nor withdraw their product from the market. Why is this important? Because DOGSWELL continues to source their chicken and duck jerky from the SAME facility, namely Shandong Honva Food Co., Ltd, as Milo's! FDA records show 274,000 pounds of 'chews' were imported from Shandong between Sept. 2012 and Dec. 2012. In January 2013, Dogswell alone accepted 60,000 pounds of these chews from Shandong.
