More and more senior dogs and cats are being dumped at shelters because they are "too old" They do not deserve to live out their golden years in an uncaring place where no one cares whether they live or die. And usually, they DO die.  They die because most shelters consider them to be unadoptable. We can do our part by adopting one when the time is right.  I ask you to take this pledge with me.

I adopted a senior without even knowing! The rescue said he was 3-4 yrs old but the vet said more like 7-9 yrs old! OMG, I am in love with him and am so blessed that God placed him in my life <3 Seniors ROCK!

Jacqui, I adopted a senior without knowing it too! The rescue said he was 3 or 4. I looked at his face starting to get grey and the rescue said he might be 5. I adopted him and two vets, independently of each other, said he was 7 or 8. That was 7 years ago so he's 15 now! I know I could have returned him to the rescue group but I was already in love. He's perfect and it was the best decision I've ever made. Senior dogs definitely rock!

I totally agree Darla! Thank you for rescuing <3

Peaceful Passings Senior Animal Rescue supports the cause to adopt senior animals. They are often the first to die in kill shelters and need loving homes as much as any younger animal.

We can all do this...I have a senior now...alpha, but I have already done this once. I adopted a 12 year old Golden. She was with us til 16 and I know it was the best 4 years of her life...I will do it again! You?

My Yellow Lab was 8 y/o when I adopted him. He's 15 now and he will be with me until his last breath. I know he's already lived past his life expectancy but the vet said he's in as good of shape as can be expected for his age.

Want a comforting, peaceful heart? Adopt a senior. All they ask is for a soft place to rest their head to finish out their lives. They will truly give you much more than you can ever give to them. Please don't let our seniors perish. We would not do this to our parents or grandparents - but, then, come to think of it - yes, some do!

I've done!!

We could learn a lot from a senior dog. Dogs are wiser, kinder, and more beautiful beings than we could ever be.

We adopted 2 very old cats (vet says at least 16 - 18) in Dec that had been dumped in a backyard on a cold winter's night and left there in a plastic bag to die. One is deaf, one is blind, both have no teeth left and a minor heart problem. But if you could just see them how they lie in the sun or in front of the fireplace, how they play with the other cats or cuddle with our foster dog and simply enjoy their life - this makes me very humble! They are such an enrichment to our life and I...

There is nothing better than adopting a senior cat or dog - they will make your life complete <3.

HOWWWWW can people be so ugly?! To have a companion animal live so long with you and do this? But thank God for people like you...for whatever time these cats have left they are living blessed and happy because of you.

We handle rescue for a particular breed, breed but rarely get older dogs, but I have owned a few...We all deserve care when getting on in years...you don't get rid of your Grannie or parents as they get old..Do you!!

In February I had great good fortune of meeting a sweet 9 yesr old dog by the name of Rocky. I had gone to a rescue to see and adopt a 2 yesr old border collie but Rocky came into the room and into my heart.
