One billion women will be victims of rape, beatings, mutilation or other forms of abuse in their lifetime. Some of them will become victims for going to school, others for not birthing a son, but mostly, just because they were born female.
Most of these women will be told they deserved it. Sadly, many will believe this is true and submit themselves to a lifetime of violence. But together, we can put an end to violence against women with emergency health care, community interventions and empowering women to escape the abuse.
