Dear friend,

Many pedophiles escape prosecution because the law times out before victims are ready to speak. Thank you for signing the petition to pass the Child Victims Act and help law enforcement protect our kids.

The Child Victims Act to be heard by the Minnesota House Civil Law Committee on Wednesday, March 6th, at 12:00 p.m. and we need to make sure that they also know that we expect them to pass the act.

If we all pledge 5 minutes again, and we all work together again, watch what a difference we can make again.  We can do this!  Here's what you need to do - it'll only take 5 minutes:

  1. Click this link and enter your zipcode, it'll bring up the name of your Legislative and Congressional Members.  Look for the entry in the list that looks like this "Paul Anderson - 12B - MN House "  Click on that and you'll find their phone number and email address.
  2. Call your Representative's office and say, "Hello, my name is __________ and I'm calling to ask Representative ___________ if they are supporting the Child Victims Act?  It's in front of the House Civil Law Committee on Wednesday, March 6th and I'm asking that (s)he make sure they know of his/her support.  Protecting Minnesota's children is important and I'll be following the vote"  If you want to add a personal reason that's good too.
Leave us a comment down below the pledge and tell us how it went.  Mostly you'll end up speaking to a staffer, that's good, they'll want to record your name and where you are from.  You can call, or email, from any part of the world.  Calls are better, and they count for more from voters in Minnesota, of course!

  • Are they supporting the Child Victims Act?
  • Will they inform the Judiciary Committee of their support?
If you have a few minutes more please click here for a list of House Civil Law Committee Members.  Their offices would also love to know that you support the bill.  Call the Chair and Vice Chair, then call the Republican Lead, please work your way through the list if you have time.  Here's a suggestion of what to say: "Hello, my name is __________ and I'm calling to ask Representative ___________ if they are supporting the Child Victims Act?  It's in front of the House Civil Law Committee on Wednesday, March 6th and I want to make sure they know of my support.  Protecting Minnesota's children is important and I'll be following the Committee's vote"  Again feel free to tell them your personal story as to why you feel it's important to pass the Child Victims Act.
Thanks for everything you are doing to #stopabuse.  Please click the the big green button to share this message with your friends because the more of us working together, the more sure we can be that we can #stopabuse in Minnesota within this generation.

  1. Update #1

Posted by Andrew Willis (Campaign Leader) on Mar 2

    We have fantastic news!

The Minnesota Child Victims Act passed the Senate Judicial Committee. It will now go to the Senate floor.

Thank you for everything you have done to make this happen. The effort is not over though - we're hoping we can continue to count on you!

The House Civil Law Committee will take up the bill on March 6th.  We know what we need to do to win now and we've edited the guide in this Causes Action to reflect what we need to do to get through the next stage.

All of us working together are making a real difference.  We're emailing the petition out to some more people tonight,  we're hoping to double the number of signatures this week.

What we need you to do is follow the new instructions on the Causes page for reaching your house member, then please call them and if you have time call the House Civil Law Committee too.

    Thanks, and congratulations!

PS.  Remember you'll find all the information you need at the National Center For Victims of Crime website and if there is anything else we can do to help you in Minnesota click on our names and you can email us.  We'll do whatever we can to help you succeed.  Please ask, and we'll try.
