When are dolphin deaths highest in Indian River Lagoon?

The chlorophyll and nitrogen levels are highest in the Lagoon during the warm, rainy summer months. This is when the waters are warmest and the most runoff of nitrogen occurs. Martin County has passed a strong fertilizer ordinance that gives lawn owners a fertilizing holiday from June 1st to September 30th. Despite the success, we still face many challenges in passing similar ordinances in other Indian River Lagoon counties.
