Bobcat

Bobcat trapping is a big problem in California. Last year, more than 1,800 cats were trapped and killed because of escalating demand for pelts in places like China and Russia. If nothing's done, the number will continue to grow.

In California it's still legal to trap and kill an unlimited number of bobcats between November and January. What's more, with few restrictions on where traps may be set, trappers have started lining the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park with cages, killing numerous bobcats as they travel between the national park and private land.  Protected areas don't mean much for wildlife like the bobcat -- which can travel tens of miles a day -- if they're trapped and killed the minute they step over an invisible park boundary.

It's time to put a stop to bobcat trapping in California. California's native wildlife should not be killed for commercial exploitation. If you live in California, please click on this link and sign the petition to ban bobcat trapping in the Golden State

Please take action by May 1, 2013.
