Facebook needs a report option for Child Abusive Material

To: Facebook CEO - Mark Zuckerberg.

February 2013, and Facebook are still no closer to having a report option for content on their site pertaining to CAM "Child Abuse Material" instead we are to report this type of imagery as one of the following (or similar) options...

- Drug use
- Spam or scam
- Graphic violence
- Hate speech or symbol

- Drug use
- Spam or scam
- Graphic violence
- Hate speech or symbol
- Nudity or pornography

Imagery of a child being abused is NOT nudity or porn. It's a crime scene.

They are the evidence depicting children as being victims of a serious crime and possibly in need of help, and why victim identification is so important.

When content as sensitive and horrific as this is submitted, it needs experienced people ready to deal with reports. People who...

* who are able to remove content as soon as it's possible.
(understandably take down time, will vary, depending on content)

* who are able to analyse what has been reported

* who can determine if the content is illegal, and if so

* who are able to trace where it appears to be located

With the relevant law enforcement contacted, to initiate investigations into (any) victims and perpetrators related to the content.

                  **********************************************
Facebook as the leading social networking site, should also take the lead in  helping combat online sexual exploitation of children. In the UK alone, the number of people accessing illegal images has risen 48% in four years, with up to 35,000 indecent images of children were being found daily.

Facebook needs a function, that stands alone from the "normal" report process, with child sexual abuse reports being submitted straight to a dedicated online reporting system.

INHOPE, for example, some one like this is ideal, they respond to reports already and have a network of 43 Hotlines in 37 countries. Facebook could provide a secure mechanism for it's users to click, which would link directly to the (Inhope) online report form, thus ensuring the content is investigated.

In short, Facebook needs a report function available that is specific to reporting any content relating to child sexual abuse. NO child victim should go unnoticed.

Facebook needs a report function that is specific to "Child Abuse Material" - (sexual imagery which focuses on children) and which links to a "hotline" such as INHOPE who have a dedicated online report system. If this feature were to be put in place by Facebook, it would ensure that any imagery reported, IS investigated, IS passed to the relevant LEA and the Internet Service Provider hosting the original content IS notified.

Behind every image, there is an exploited, abused and helpless child - Not one should go unnoticed.

There is absolutely NO excuse for the staff at Facebook for not having a clear and firm definition of what constitutes child exploitation and the consequences for the abuser. There are many well established child welfare organizations in this country who would be more than happy to guide this communications medium, through a board of directors, to a sound resolution. I will volunteer to communicate with the Child Welfare League to begin a think tank effort and to report back to other concerned Facebook users.

I closed my Facebook account. It is inconvenient for my work, however it is worth it to make a statement against the allowing of pedophiles they know are there.

What's sad is that even after these pages are reported numerous times, Facebook does not care and will not remove them. Obviously they've created a monster with this social networking site they have created and now they have lost control of it.

they also do not remove pedophiles I have reported one a few times and hes still on here

So very important to sign this petition! Your voice can make a difference.

A horrible thing that should never ever happen. I would encourage folks to report it directly to Face Book & the authorities if they should happen to know of such a site. Even if FB had this option of "reporting by clicking", would you really want to rely on that? NOT ME! Take ACTION!

Facebook claim they use photo DNA, we know this is not true. They also claim to have a list of words that should flag up inappropriate groups and pages, we know this is also not true. Recently it took Facebook over 7hrs to take down a video contain sexual abuse of a child, despite them being aware of it is they firstly refused to delete it. I have come also pages of pedophiles that facebook will not delete despite the pages having hundreads of images of very young children. This needs to...

This needs to stop, facebook know this is going on as they where shown proof of it over 2 years ago and yet they do nothing to help with this fight.

We need to do all that there is to report what we see on all sites that is child pornography. It is not right to exploit children like this anywhere, anytime for any reason! Children should have a childhood! And we should be working hard to ensure they are allowed to have one!
