Oh no! Do you ever want to see my face again? Please read and help :)

I'm going to Florida over Spring Break! No, this isn't for Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers. I'm going as a member of Student/Farmworker Alliance at Vanderbilt. We're going on a march to support Florida's very own Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a group of farmworkers fighting for what they call Fair Food: a supply chain with justice for workers.

We already raised $1100! The problem is, that's currently only have enough money to get down there. Oops. So we need your help to need some help getting back. We'd rather not be stuck Florida forever!

Their fight for Fair Food will take us from Florida's Collier County -- home to the biggest tomato fields on the East Coast -- to Lakeland, the headquarters of Publix Supermarkets, which has for the last four years attempted to block change from coming to the tomato industry, even sending out a spokesman in 2010 to tell the press that "If there are some atrocities going on, it's not our business."

We'll be marching those 175 miles with the farmworkers, learning and documenting their stories, and lending our own feet and bodies to the call for justice in the food supply chain.  Most of us aren't actually marching the entire 175 miles since we have to get back to school, but we're still really excited!

Help us make this amazing opportunity a reality! We're dedicated to making the journey as accessible as possible to people of all backgrounds, so students, workers, and families can have this experience together regardless of their financial resources.

We're being as economical as possible, sleeping in churches and community centers and eating donated meals along the way. We looking to raise $800 more to cover the transportation costs of about two dozen people.

All of your tax-deductible donations to the Student/Farmworker Alliance will go toward supporting our Vanderbilt group in the journey.

I'll leave you with words from a man from the CIW, Gerardo Reyes: "No hay sueno imposible, cuando podemos trabajar unidos." "There is no dream that is impossible when we truly work together."

Sincerely & with love,
