right to work is a union busting weapon. I'm not in a union but I thank them every weekend when I'm at home after a 40 hour week earning PTO and maybe a little overtime. I got your back unions!
NO its not bullshit Charlie Stewart, Unions promote fair labor practice, and collective bargaining. This inhibited that right, giving trust that the company's will do right by their workers, and no power to despite anything the company decides without courts overturned. So Charlie Steward your full of shit. What happens to your insurance when this goes into effect, and how will it effect your collective bargaining of your policies. BYE BYE INSURANCE, and hello to your lack of being able to afford it. OHH the government just made that mandatory so we will take it from your taxes now sir... Bet you wish your union was there to represent you on the fact government now makes it mandatory to have a private organizational insurance.
OK CHARLIE STEWART, I HAVE BEEN RETIRED FOR 24 YEARS AND IF WE DIDNT HAVE A UNION I WOULD BE IN THE POOR HOUSE.
The Phelps Dodge copper miners strike in 1983 here in Arizona and all the filthy deeds that went along with it, including the shooting of a 3 year old child have totally soured me on labor unions. I have worked for 25 years in the same profession without the help of a labor union. Unions have become just as corrupt as the factory and steel mill bosses of the day when the unions were created.
I don't know if they've been a waste of time or not. Only you can decide that. I just know that I"ve been able to work in my profession, be well-paid and have good benefits without the help of any union. The strike I mentioned above and all the deeds that went along with it, totally soured me on unions and I would not join one if given the choice. Bullying people who don't want to strike it WRONG.
As it was also wrong to bully the man's wife in the grocery store and carelessly fire gun shots into his home, hitting his three year old girl as she slept. Yeah those union copper miners really made a good impression on unions everywhere.
My husband worked construction many years ago. Non-union of course. He said the union workers in his trade were the laziest men on the site, did the shoddiest work etc, all the while bragging that they couldn't be fired because of the union.
He wouldn't be saying that if he was in Detroit. WE have the best mechanics in the nation.
I"m just telling what he said. I"m glad you have great mechanics. I simply don't like how some bad workers are allowed to keep working because the union protects them in spite of their lazinesss and shoddy work. I'm sure not all union workers are like that, I"m just giving an example of one of the disadvantages of unions.
Without the Unions, there would not be a middle class.
Also Non-union people would not have the benefits that they enjoy today.
